Annette Becker

Annette Becker is an arts educator, curator, and material culture historian whose research focuses on fashion, dress, and textiles. Since 2016, she has served as the Director of the Texas Fashion Collection, an archive of nearly 20,000 garments and accessories started by the Dallas-based department store Neiman Marcus and today housed at the College of Visual Arts and Design at the University of North Texas. In that role, she curates exhibitions, leads engaging academic programming, and stewards a world-class collection. Past research projects have varied widely, ranging from nineteenth-century lace collecting to Lady Bird Johnson’s wardrobe to the business history of the American fashion industry. Becker’s work is informed by professional experience in cultural institutions across the country, as well as graduate education in Art History, Art Education, and American History.
